Football advanced to the MHSAA Division IV District Finals next week with a 20-10 win tonight over Vicksburg at Armstrong Field.
The Cats opened the scoring in the first quarter on a Jalen Heivilin touchdown pass to Jett Haifley from 18 yards out. Vicksburg would tie it at seven before Parker Elliftitz scored on a four yard run. Vicksburg would kick a field goal right before halftime to make it 14-10 Three Rivers at the half.
Both defenses took over in the second half before the Cats scored with just over six minutes left in the game on a Garrett McDonald 5 yard run.
Three Rivers finished with 266 yards offense (66 rushing/200 passing) while the defense held Vicksburg to 111 yards of offense including -2 yards on the ground. The Cats had 14 first downs. Heivilin finished 13 for 23, Gavin Charvat led the Cats with 73 yards receiving on 6 receptions. Jett Haifley had 58 yards receiving.
Traven Van Oss led the defense with 6 tackles, Tyler Moore added 5 tackles and a sack. Tirrell Hausmanis had 4 tackles and a sack, Chris Morrill added another sack.
