Girls Softball clinched a share of the Wolverine Conference Championship with a doubleheader sweep of South Haven tonight improving to 16-0 in the conference (27-3 overall). The Cats magic number is now one for an outright conference title with two conference games left. Any combination of one Cats win at Paw Paw or Vicksburg loss vs. Otsego next Tuesday would clinch it for the Cats.
Game 1: Three Rivers 11 South Haven 1 (F/6)
The Cats broke open a 1-1 tie with seven runs in the bottom of the fifth. Amy Jo Tavernier and Kali Helivin had home runs as the Cats had 13 hits. Jessica Barnes had three hits while Tavernier, Halle Carpenter, and Tessa Hawkins each had two. Emma Thatcher, Kylee Nash, Heivilin, and Erin Brady each had hits. Nash pitched six innings allowing two hits and striking out nine.
Game 2: Three Rivers 7 South Haven 3
The Cats used 10 hits to complete the sweep as Karalyn Eldridge hit a home run. Tessa Hawkins had three hits, Emma Thatcher and Eldridge each had two hits, and Halle Carpenter, Kylee Nash, & Jessica Barnes had hits. Nash pitched seven innings allowing four hits and striking out ten.
